Kojin Karatani mentioned a very interesting and provocative statement about Structuralism and Fascism in France:

He said that the idea to abandon the concept of individuality and subjectivity was embraced particularly by those who suffered from guilt for collaboration: even with Marxism as a kind of structuralism, that sees in individuals economic factors and functions, the post-fascistic subject could ease his memory: "if it wouldn't have been me, others would have done it instead."

very striking and convincing... ---

I am struck by the lucidity of this argument and the fact that I have never seen it somewhere else.... plus it helps to reread things differently.
