Rainer, I am familiar with Sylvere's discussion of the inappropriateness of the term "holocaust," and of course, the complicity of Christianity, which STILL needs elaboration. However, the talk that I heard, addressed the rather problematic relationship that some French intellectuals, e.g., Artaud, Bataille, and I believe Genet, among others, had with fascism. It is interesting to consider, that by describing fascism as a form of sadism without identification, a pure aestheticization of violence, allows for the legitimation of such intellectuals. It would seem, if this is not a gross simplification or mireading, that this is precisely what is implied. Ecstase, without their own self-sacrifice.
