Just a quick update from the micropower radio working group
This morning's edition of "Wake Up Call" (WBAI 99.5fm) featured a half
hour program about our upcoming pirate radio benefit and workshops. The
program featured Amy Goodman and Samori Marksman interviewing Napolean
Williams of Black Liberation Radio, Mimi from Radio Mutiny, and Arrow from
Steal This Radio. The show went well, plugged NYFMA's phone # generously,
and resulted in NYFMA getting many calls from listeners wanting to attend
this weekend's workshops.
Also, a public service announcement is presently in rotation at the WBAI
studio. Our PSA is called "Build this Radio". If you know anyone who works
at WBAI, please let them know about it. A call can go a long way to get a
PSA on the air.
The benefit starts this friday evening at 8pm (360 East 10th Between
Avenue B & C) with a spoken word piece by Peter Lamborn Wilson on
micropower radio and marginal publishing. The remainder of the evening's
performances will be live music.
