I came in the night and thus I will go!
Nice people. Come to have a look in my page(I started it yesterday) http://www.planet.it/freewww/captor/
hello from Viper festival in switzerland seems I will spemd these 10 dollars continue !!
I can never remember that address... I'll have to look it up! Guess you can tell I'm new to this. sorry I don't have anything intelligent to add to this.
goodlooking, economically designed thing... I'll pop by more often
Finally! It took me a while to get here, maybe a bit too late. About a year ago I was asked to do a collaborative video piece with Ann Carter for The Thing. The last I heard, the video (titled "Landlord") was recieved in Jan. 1995 to be exhibited. I would appreciate some feedback on this matter. Unfortunately, I never had access to the Net to view the piece myself. I would like to know what happened to the piece.
Critter's stuff is c-o-o-l. I mean the blobs and all--. Tomatoes from hell. Pomopotomatoes. Whatever.
Good to see the Thing up and running. Heard about it a few months ago and anticipated its arrival. Alyson's piece was interesting--want to see more of it. I have done similar work at the University of Michigan. I will be in NYC tomorrow afternoon and look forward to the NYC scene over the weekend. Until then....
Critter's sprouts are amazing! And highly susceptible to different environments--they grew differently in the two different computers I tried.
Good Thing! Will The Thing include Los Angeles ?
O.K. I've got a T1 line, and a pretty bitchin' Power PC from Macintosh, but I can't run through any of these projects with the speed one needs to exist in New York with. I'm admittedly impatient, but I also can't locate SoundApp for the Marclay and Mori suff, I opened up Sound Machine, but it didn't seem to have much effect. Any hints? Otherwise, I'll probably see you kidz again sometime soon.
a REAL cool thing! THING's URL is hard to remember...
Thanx a lot for this thing, I'm looking forward for the thing in basel/Switzerland
Put me on your mailing list!
Hi Wolfgang! I saw you on Saturday and you told me how to find "The Thing", though I forgot what you said and found it another way. I haven't checked everything out yet, I'll try to say more if I have time later. I'm at work, that's my job email address above. P.s. I have dark brown hair and brwn eyes in case you forgoot who I am.
it should be transparent, why there is at this time just this artis shown (his work of course). ther should be a opportunity to discuss this work (also with the artist). the newsroom is really a great thing! I have not seen more yet
I enjoy killing plants.
I have nothing to say, and I am saying it.
I enjoyed looking about. Also, if possible say hello to Jordan Crandall and perhaps you can pass on info regarding Blast - email adress, etc.
cool design and everything, but try to keep your links up to date, please!
great! visit our new site at http://freenet.buffalo.edu/~wheel/
I'm trying to figure out how all this works. I love the idea. Please go see my work in a group show at Pomegranate Gallery, 417 Lafayette 4th floor 228-2184.I could use some exposure. thanks.
I enjoyed your site. I will appreciate if you have more info. of Art competition in NY or some job related opportunities for a practicing artist as me from outside of your community.
I enjoyed the seed packets of Alyson Sholts. At least I think that was what her name was. Is it possible that you have a pull down menu on the guest book form so I could just pull down to match the artists name with my comment.
HI just wanted to let you know I really enjoyed myself!!!
Enjoyed the Nechvetal piece and Mori's as well the general level of the Thing site. Great work...thanks.
Very good!
The 1st February 1996 will born the telematic Art Magazine ARTWARE. in the site http://www.dim.it/lello.html

Looking good. But why are people's guest book comments so lame? What happened to that dream of unfettered discourse? Wake me when it arrives.
More art-scene inbreeding. But well done.
I read about this site in Art in America and this is the best site they listed by far.

very interesting....the concept of art without walls has finally become reality ... virtually speaking. thing does alot of things well - especially giving "lessor known" or "new" artists a platform/forum to present their work. the web is a enpowering technology for the "little guy/gal" sadly, as corporate amerika begins to sort out the complexity of the web - it will strive to find ways to define their presence and PROFIT! then, the web probably become another rigid morass like cable tv. last sunday's NY times article about art of the web probabaly spawned a thousand "heads up" and "lets form a committee to look into this" meetings. interestingly, netscape and veriphone have just joined forces to come up with a secure credit card transaction software package...oh boy here we go pay per view is here to stay... whatever.... better enjoy the web thing while you can.

Dear Thing Intriguing site. I will continue my ramble. It is not clear to me how to use the various applets necessary to view some of the offerings eg Alyson Shottz. I download things until I am blue...or rather redin the face all to no avail. Decent instructions are hard to come by on the Web. To return the compliment of a good browse may I suggest a visit to my site: PHOTOCOLLECT'S Virtual Gallery a gallery of Vintage photographs... http://www.webart.com/photocollect/ I hope you visit soon. Cheers Alan Klotz Director Photocollect

excellent! I want to see more! how does an artist become a part of this thing?
This medium needs its´own language which I havn´t read in the art stuff section. Boring Kippenberger, a well known image by Beat Streuli and a novel by Joseph are as Atkins says to lame. Otherwise a very amusing and refreshing way of communicating
Please send us relevant information on new projects by artists on your site. Especially projects dealing with communication in a digital era interests us. Thank you!
It's a great thing, THE THING !!!
Had a good time, thanks for the info.
at last
Cool site! I'll certainly be dropping in often.
Not too shabby!

nice variety of projects
VIVA LE REVOLUTION...
read about this sight in Art News-will visit again
Just got here. Looks good. Simply layout. Cool. Very Cool. Right now I'm looking for some information on "Art Brut" or "Outsider Art" for a school project. I am attending York University in Toronto for Visual Arts, so stuff like this site is great for me - I can always use some extra help! Plan to head back to NYC this April or May. Hopefully sites like this one will make my trip more rewarding by planning a little ahead. I'll stop in again soon. Now I shall get back to work. If I could get a job procrastinating I could make millions.
hmmmm...diverse.
As you may already have heard of Jack Jitters we are searching for good art-sites. It's hard to find anything worthwhile. From the 15-th of march you can visit The occupied movement on the following adres; http://www.ddh.bart.nl/dgeob. This site of the occupied movement will bring it's yearly congres. People with occupied minds will talk and demonstrate. I'm also interseted in how to use photoghraphic image's in an good way in web-pages, for example how you can use the time the computer is building up the image, and how you can combine text with the photographic end-result. I'm searching for lost pictures that were in the archives of the DGEOB (short for the occupied movement) like the lectures that Jack Jitters or Toet Stone Heffie gave during their congres. When you have any information that you would like to send us personaly you can send it to our adres it's: .SNAP. photographieën Malakkastraat 164 2585 SV Den Haag the Netherlands

Love this stop. "Angel Paint" my favorite.
haven't finished my travels through yet, but extraordinary so far
In a few days I'll join The Thing! Hi all Thing'ers
It took a while, but I finally managed to find the thing. I am located in China and am involved in promoting the contemporary arts here. I am currently involved in putting together an exhibition at the National China Art Gallery that would feature both Chinese and Western painters. The theme of the show is mainly one of cultural homogeneity. That is, as the world gets smaller differences are measured accordingly. By using depictions of contemporary life via oil painting to show how 2 completely different traditions managed to meet and employ similar styles to express similar themes of contemporary life. There are many Chinese painters that combine images of an ever infringing (post)modernity that is not alltogether unlike the playful paranoia displayed in the works of young painters such as Kenny Scharf, Martin Kippenburg, and others that i cant seem to pick off the tip of my tongue. Basically I could use some suggestions- other painters I should look at - other Web Locations that may be of use -gallery e addresses, etc. I know youre busy but please do respond. Thank You You are doing a good thing THING.
Please send me information about your proposed internet & e-mail server. Doug Davis told me about it.
I saw Delacroix on the Today Show showing some new olympic work does anyone know where I can find them?
Where is Miss Fiss' Internet Agency web page?
It sure took along time for this page to transmit.
I saw your ad on Artforum magazine, I think, and looked for an information about the movie, 'Build a fort, set it...' Is that photo from you?

Just curious. I've been hearing about this site for some time. One of the more interesting efforts in the the new genre.
Have not looked around yet. Am signing the guest book (as one would at a party or wedding, for instance) as I enter your domain....
Not enough women artists. I'm exhibiting Beata Szyszkowka on my site. http://www.prooportions.com
How recent are all these emails? Just curious. It's 23/3/96 today, and I'm in Oxford, UK. Really impressed with this site -I have a low patience threshold, and I wasn't bored.

Sorry for fucking up so badly after the Regan administration left the country in critical condition. Fortunately i've found my way to the www and i can feed my habit for complacency without minute to minute guilt. I like The Thing. I'd like to make it available through the ATM outlets with my son's savings bank. By the way y'all have you checked out America Online??? Now that's American!
