Hi. My name is Jan Åman. I don't think we ever met, even though I heard a
lot about you from Victor Misiano in Moscow in 95. Yesterday Elein Fleiss
sent me an e-mail with your text on Alexander Brener and Flash art. I was
really happy to read it, since it is - as far as I know - the first attempt
to come to terms with what is behind not only Alexander Brener but has a
more general implication on that generation of artists from the "former
east". I am part of the case as curator with Victor Misiano of the Interpol
project here in Stockholm... that I guess you know of.
I am just on my way to Trondheim to work at the academy there for a couple
of days, and will return to you later, but just a couple of things:
I am part of the V2 e-mail-syndicate, initiated by Andreas Brockman. It is
mainly a directed towards information between the so called former eastern
and western europe. I have an on-going conversation with the irwin-group
from slovenia there, regarding the same issues (I responded to their
defense letter for Alexander Brener). I'd like to put out your article for
the syndicate, since it is a very relevant comment and something that has
not been said there before. Inform me if you think it is ok.
I hope to finish a text on Interpol, Brener, Kulik and the so called
communication gap next week, that will also be sent out on the V2
syndicate-list.
Do you know that there will be more coming up: in Vienna (I met Joseph
Bakstein last week who is curating a show at the Wiener Seccesion with all
our friends...), and in Venice (Victor with Kulik)? There will be a lot of
discussion about these issues during the coming weeks - and that why I
think it would be interesting to send out your text.
