"To err is human, but to really foul things up requires a
computer."

This is to let you know that we are awfully sorry about what happened
with the Cyberstar press release. In the process of validating a list
of people who expressed their interest in the cyberstar competition,
we tested it against our other lists. To our deep regret, the final
mailing was mistakenly based on the list used for testing, not the
intended one.

The flood of messages that you all experienced was caused by
"unsubscribe-requests", to the Cyberstar-L mailing list, from a large
number of people who unexpectedly got our message. Since the mailing
was intended as a simple press release no list server was supposed to
be used in the first place.

We would like to apologize to all of you whose mailboxes were
cluttered with junkmail.

Sincerely,

Monika Fleischmann Ute Schuetz
GMD-IMK GMD
Cyberstar Committee Dept. of Corporate Communications

P.S. Please rest assured that this test list has been deleted after
this apology was sent!
