No IKEA's in Boston?! Having such a large student and hip young population, it only seems right that IKEA should set up shop somewhere in Boston. The drive to NYC is worth it, but truck rentals get old. So how about it?

I'm looking for a denim slipcover sofa that i saw in an Ikea store about two years ago. The denim upholstery was completely removable, including a skirt that connected to the slipcover using velcro. I want to know if that sofa and accessories (a loveseat or chair) or something similar in denim is still available for purchase somewhere. The key advantages I'm looking for however, are the blue denim upholstery and the ability to remove it. please respond.

Hi. I have worked at IKEA for over five years in the Deco department. It is a very interesting company to work for. They are very forward moving and ever changing in their strategies. It is hard to keep up from day to day. They feel that every person on earth should have the chance to enjoy nice things in their homes, reguardless of their income. So, they carry chairs, couches, wall units, etc. and other things to decorate your home in all price ranges. So, if your income is in the lower range, you can still buy a chair or couch, drapes, etc. If your income is medium, you can buy a nicer couch, chair, drapes etc., and if your income is on the high end they carry very nice chairs, couches, drapes etc. Why should anyone sit on apple boxes and have rags on their windows just because their income is in the low range? Then as your income begins to climb, you will come back to IKEA and be able to purchase nice home furnishings in the next price range. IKEA is good to their employees. They give us a summer party and a winter party and another party just for the heck of it. I don't mean a wienie on a bun party. I mean at the Ritz Carlton and places like that. We have a 15% discount on any purchase: new stuff, as is stuff or sale stuff. There is an employee of the month contest in which the best employee of that month wins dinner out, special parking space and a big bouquet of baloons. Then the 12 winners of the year have a chance at $1,000. if they are the employee of the year. We have paid insurance, 3 personal days, 3 sick days, 6 paid holidays and 2 weeks vacation after one year. I've been there 5 years and I have 4 weeks vacation. They pay for the cost of the course for any courses we take ,100% if you keep a good grade average. We have dental care and vision care. They send their people to training classes so we can keep up with what the company is doing. I could sing their praises for another hour, but I guess you get the idea. They are a great company to work for. Jealous yet?
